Unforecasted Bora Winds strike the Front Range.
Sneaking "under the radar," hurricane force winds slammed south Boulder on Friday. Despite multiple surface indicators and nearly ideal 700mb conditions, the National Weather Service made no mention of winds over 25mph and failed to issue a High Wind Advisory or Warning. They also made no mention of dangerous winds in their Hazardous Weather Outlook. The storm lasted for about two hours and created zero visibility conditions on several highways. Some easy forecasting put me in exactly the right place at the right time. Despite my car being completely coated in clay, sand, grapefruit, toilet paper, and other random debris, I managed to get some great shots. I'll try to post one of these later after licensing considerations have been resolved.
